A goldsmith's crucible of East Slavonic type, common in Nerevsky/Novgorod and in Kiev. Mid 11th century. By accident(?) contemporary to the visit of Harold Hardrada of Norway and Princess Ellisif/Elizabeth, daughter of Grand Prince Jaroslav the Wise and Princess Ingegerd/Irina. The couple visited Sigtuna on the way from Constantinople and Kiev to Norway in 1045, according to the Nordic sagas. Did the Princess bring a personal goldsmith?
